Zalgo text is regular text with extra Unicode combining marks stacked above, through, and below each letter. The marks create a corrupted or cursed appearance while the underlying letters remain real, selectable text rather than an image.

How combining marks are drawn depends on the software and text-rendering system displaying them. Some environments let the marks extend far beyond the normal line height, while others clip, simplify, or limit them. The same Zalgo text can therefore look different after being pasted elsewhere.

Yes. For Zalgo-generated text, the Remove Zalgo mode strips the added combining marks and leaves the underlying letters, turning heavily distorted text back into a clean, readable form. Text that already contained its own legitimate combining marks may also be affected.
